Glad to hear you solved this. The probable root cause of the swelling in the line is water accumulation and combined with degrading of the butyl material inside the line. It is important to prevent this by using a good quality fluid. I have been using ATE "super blue" racing fluid in all vintage cars due to it"s very low hydroscopic action, and high boil point. It"s pricy, but cheap insurance for expensive brake part reliability. Available by order at any Kragen/Car Quest store. DOT 4, non-synthetic fluid usable in clutch systems too.
