Re: [VintageLambo] Re: GTCP frustrations

Body of Message

Hi Fred/Aaron, I talked at length with Dave last week and one of the topics that came up was how they keep track of inventory. Most Lambo owners (by now) areaware of the junkyard of parts they have accumulated for some of the old cars. Many of the used pieces are not inventoried and about the only way you canfind something is by going there and looking by yourself. Many on this list have actually done that. They do have an inventory system for most of their items. It is one they have been using for years - a proprietary DOS -based system. They are in the process of upgrading their software, so there is light at the end of the tunnel (hopefully).I think Fred"s observation about them not putting O-rings very high on the priority list is probably accurate (another reason I get those items elsewhere). But when you need engine parts, brake pads, hydraulic kits, water pump parts, etc., we owe a huge debt of gratitude to GTCP. It is the one and only place that has allowed me to keep my car on the road for the past 32 years. Happy Friday, Jack lamboguy wrote: Hi Aaron, I"ve always dealt with Dave, and he"s always been good.My guess is that what you"re running into is simply a poor GTCP system in general, I"ve heard that they don"t even know themselves what they have in stock. And my guess is that it"s not worth it to them to do anything about it cuz they"re basically the only game in town. That"s my guess and I could be wrong. But having worked in auto parts stores in the past, they can simply not care about some of the "details" because there isn"t much money in it. Frankly, I think it"s time that GTCP either gets into the computerized/internet age, or somebody else could come along and do that for them. With prices the way they are, it seems somebody would be thinking about doing just that...si?Non? Who knows... Fred .
