Hello Magnus,I believe your starter motor may be suffering that the rotor makes contact with the stator when overheated. There is very little play here, the locking can be due to a number of individual/simoultaneous reasons combined with the slight increase of diameter of the rotor ( which heats up more than the stator ) for example the most common are : If you have ruststeel dust on the rotor surface. This will act as nice brake pads and lock itself up. If the "bakelite" layers between the rotor segments has expanded ( overheating, age, too much burgers, water, ketchup ) ----- Original Message ----- From: Magnus Troedsson To: VintageLambo@yahoogroups.com Sent: Tuesday, June 24, 2003 9:08 AM Subject: [VintageLambo] Re: Electro-bugs in the starter motor Fred, Thanks! Will try that! It really looks a bit thin and the connector is soaked in oil too. (The crank ventilation tube ends in mid air a bit forward of the starter motor!) But I can clearly hear the solenoid engage with a defined click. But then nothing happens exept that the ampere meter goes down halfway... There is a drop in current since the interior lights go a bit dimmer, but it definately isn"t a total short circuit since they still shine. Cheers, Magnus . ! . |
