THANKS DOC! Again, your comments are very much appreciated & welcomed! Best Regards, Herm >>> My 2 cents worth, I too drove a few 400i cars before buying the Espada. After talking to several mechanics, I decided not to go that way. The car doesn"t really have a lineage, unless you count the front engine Daytona (read the sniff petrol article on that! I peed myself) which is way different. I find the coachwork rather OK, and the front of the car carries the GT image well. Things I don"t like are the rear deck and valance, tail lights and fender arches, kinda boring from the back. The engine is detuned quite a bit for both smog and driveability reasons. Now what happens when you cut off the top? Gee, I don"t know. I would be concerned for chassis stiffness with a long door trench. If the car was driven much in NY, you can bet it"s been bounced a bit on potholes. Don"t know Brooks coachworks, only specifics I can recall are the sticky brake cylinders, pull to one side or the other. I have the Mondial Cabriolet, and I think I would look for that before going the 400i, topless route. I have gobs o" fun with it. I"ve sat in the back for a while, and it"s not all that bad, if the front seats aren"t pushed fully back. The QV engine is nearly bulletproof, brakes are phenomenal. Oh well, you"ll soon have the 308 which is similar, but yet quite different from the Mondial, and very different from the 400i. Doc <<<
