As such, the car has small side markers, H4 headlights, and no smog equipment.” The seller then goes on to detail that the car was resprayed this color shortly after importation, having been changed from factory gold metallic. The car was then sold to its second US based caretaker in 1988, at which point it was resprayed in the same color once more, albeit to a much higher standard. The car presents beautifully in photos, with deep, shiny paint, complete, healthy looking trim and excellent refurbished OEM wheels. he interior has also been partially refurbished, though rear seats remain original. These S1 cars had the best interior styling of all three series, and the seller says that this one remains in very nice shape inside. Acknowledging the fickle nature of near 50 year-old Italian car electrics, the seller calls says “Impressively, many vehicle systems are fully functional,” going on to note that all instruments except for the fuel gauge are in working order, including the clock. Windows roll, albeit slowly, and remote mirror adjustments work fine. The period eight-track deck still works, and a refurbished OEM style Blaupunkt item is included as well. A/C has been serviced with a rebuilt, R134a compressor, though the seller admits that weather has not been warm enough to test its functionality. They do note that fan speeds are slow and slower, however, which is typical of Italian systems of the era. Additionally, the wiper rheostat isn’t working properly, meaning blades work at only one speed. .
