During the seller’s ownership, the car has been cosmetically and mechanically refurbished, with work including a full respray, an interior retrim and a gearbox rebuild.
One of only 152 Jarama S (or ‘GTS’) models built, this example was sold new to an owner in Monza in 1974, and has been owned by a number of notable figures and enthusiasts, including racing driver and Ensign F1 team partner Chuck Jones and Californian Lamborghini restorer Gary Bobileff – the latter buying the car from legendary racer Dan Gurney.
While in Chuck Jones’ ownership, it was allegedly used by Formula 1 driver Clay Regazzoni while signed to the Ensign team. It is reported that he had the factory fit a shorter differential ratio to improve its performance on steep alpine roads.
This reported history was confirmed by Balboni, who is a friend of the fourth owner - prominent architect and Lamborghini collector Terry Tusher - and he has previously driven this car while holidaying with Tusher..
